He obtained his B.E (Chemical) First class with Distinction, Annamalai University (1975)

M.E (Chemical) First class with distinction, I.I.Sc., Bangalore (1977) and Ph.D from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (1984).

He is the author of many books some of which are Nonlinear Process Control, John Wiley & Sons (1996) This book was also translated in Chinese in 2002 by Coal Industrial Publishing House (translated by Prof. JiaoLiucheng and Mr. S.Y. Zhung), Computer control of processes, Narosa Pub (2002), Control of Unstable Systems, (Co-authored with Dr. R.Padma Sree) Narosa Pub, 2005.

He has guided more than 9 Ph.D, 4 M.S. Thesis, 30 M.Tech Projects.
