Contraptions

“Man’s own inherent force and energy compel things to turn out as he desires.”
Participants have to design a model where conversion of mechanical energy to various other forms of energy takes place to achieve a specific task. The model should be led by the desire to use energy economically and attain maximum efficiency.
The winning team will be decided on the basis of creativity, number of steps involved and their efficiency, use of materials and most importantly the ability of participants to present their work and impress the judges and the audience.
Problem Statement :
- A ring of diameter 9cm will be located at a height of 30 cm.
- A Table Tennis ball of radius 2cm will be provided.
- The Table Tennis ball need to be directed into the ring making use of as many contraptions as are possible.

Rules and Regulations :
- Maximum number of participants per team – 5
- The teams will be provided with an arena space not more than 3mt * 2mt .
- Contraptions must finish within 2 min.
- The teams will be given 3 attempts to complete the contraptions.
- Teams having success in the very first attempt will be awarded with full points , however , subsequent attempts will have some penality attached.
- Similar steps will be considered as a single step.
- Parallel contraptions will be awarded with double points.
- The total cost of contraptions should be kept to an optimum value.
Judgement Criteria:
Points will be awarded on the basis of –
- Energy conservations
- Number of steps
- Effectiveness
- Creativity
- Low cost
Teams with maximum number of points will win.
