Wagon 108

Introduction:

EMERGENCY!!!! People are in grave need of medical treatment and yet, no help at hand...now only the ambulance from the city hospital can save their lives... BUT will it reach in time to get them to the doctor???

Problem statement:

Develop a semi-autonomous bot which can traverse the curved paths autonomously between the hospital and the buildings in the city, lift the stretcher manually at the building and retrace the path, back to the hospital.

Arena Specifications:

  • The path to be followed is a 2cm thick, black coloured line on white floor.
  • A strip of black line across the path (in the form of a 'T') is given at the hospital and the building as the EOL.
  • The body to be taken over is on a stretcher with its bed space 10cmx5cm. The weight of the stretcher will be less than 40gms.
  • The stretcher surface shall be non-reflecting and appear white.
  • The path can be of any shape i.e., having any number of degrees of turn (smooth or steeped curves) or even straight.
  • Distance between the end point at building and stretcher will be 5cm.
  • The robot has to deal with the lightening conditions as they appear in the arena zone. Also, flash photography  &  IR  focusing cameras will be allowed unless, judges deem such activities as interfering with the ability to hold the event in general.

Bot specifications:

  • The control of the bot while travelling must be autonomous & powered by an onboard power source. Data-links to off-board computers are not allowed, and neither are human operated remote controls to loco-mote the bot .
  • Only the manual part(lifting of the stretcher) may be controlled through wired or wireless methods.
  • The bot dimensions are to be within or to be fit inside a box of 35cm X 30cm X 25cm.
  • Power supply should not exceed 18V. No external power is to be used.
  • The bot at any cost should not damage the arena or the surroundings.  No chemical or IC engine powers are entertained.

Game Rules:

  • Timer is set on as soon as the bot starts from the hospital.
  • The path has certain number of check points outside the path to be followed, only for the judge's convenience. These checkpoints will not interfere with the working of the bot.
  • If the bot appears  to go completely off the track, it shall be placed on the previous check point on the path by event coordinators, while the timer still goes on.
  • Further rules shall be updated as and when called for.

General Rules:

  • Open for all years and participants must show proper ID cards of their institutions.
  • A team may comprise of not more than 3 members.
  • The teams will be informed well in advance about the timings of their runs and each team is supposed to be ready with their machines near the arena 15 minutes before their run, failing which the team will be disqualified.
  • Each team will be given minutes trial for some final adjustments in their machine after their machines is kept on the arena. After this the run will start irrespective of whether a team is ready or not.
  • At the beginning of the run, the team has to place their machine at the starting point. The game coordinator will inform when to start the machine.
  • In case of any dispute judges’ decision will be final and binding. The judges also hold the
  • right to disqualify any team in case any of the rules are violated.
  • The organizers reserve all rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit without requiring any change in the bot design.
